Art, Music & Kindness

Bellingham Women Songwriters Showcase teams up with Art For Food for a night of Art, Music and Kindness!

The Songwriters Showcase, a creation of local singer and songwriter Tanya Hladik, is a quarterly event that gathers a group of songwriting women to share their compositions while raising funds for local organizations. Hladik wanted a way to hear more from the talented women songwriters of her community. A former Americorps volunteer, she is passionate about supporting programs that help people in need in Bellingham.

Art For Food is a project initiated by Meghan Yates, an artist, musician and interfaith minister. Yates started this project about 4 years ago to bring communities together in the direction of kindness through connecting over art and music. Money from a pass of the hat and a portion of art sales will go toward buying gift certificates to local grocery stores and coffeehouses, and will be given out to folks asking for help with food and those in need of warmth and connection.

Donations of winter hats, scarves, mittens/gloves as well as new socks for the Interfaith Coalitions’ CAST program will also be accepted.

This showcase features songwriters Marie Eaton, McKain Lakey, Stephanie Walbon, Maren Day, as well as Tanya Hladik and Meghan Yates, and local poet Elizabeth Vignali. Artists include Rose Drummond, Tal Connor, Virginia Rose MacDonald and Meghan Yates.

The evening will be a chance to hear a sampling of some of the talented songwriters and support local artists and spread a little kindness during the holiday season.

With Art for Food and the Bellingham Women Songwriters Showcase, all who participate benefit.
